May Beef Month

May is Beef Month in Kentucky! When people think of Kentucky, they typically think of bluegrass, bourbon, and horses - but we're here to tell you, it's BEEF too!

Cattle farming is a Kentucky tradition dating back to the 1700s. Today, Kentucky is the largest beef cattle state east of the Mississippi. There are more than 38,000 cattle farmers across the Bluegrass.

If Kentucky tradition were a flavor, it would taste like fine golden spirits and savory steak. Help us celebrate Kentucky this May by celebrating two of Kentucky's traditions - bourbon and beef. These bourbon-infused beef recipes are Kentucky inspired and the perfect recipes to kick off summer grilling season!

But, we want to do more than just celebrate Kentucky, we want to give back too. This year, #BeefMonthGivesBack to fight hunger in Kentucky and we want you to join us. This May, in collaboration with the Kentucky Department of Agriculture's Hunger Initiative, we are dedicating Beef Month to celebrating Kentucky while giving back to local communities.

1 in 6 Kentuckians are food insecure. Get a "Beef, Bourbon, & Bluegrass." t-shirt online at www.provisionsky.com or in-store at Wildcat Wearhouse and 50% of the proceeds will go to the Kentucky Association of Food Banks to help Kentucky communities in need.

Derby Bourbon Burger

It wouldn't be May in Kentucky if we were celebrating the our state's famous horse race! This year's winning Derby Burger is the "D to the Double B" or "Derby Bourbon Burger" created by Louisville native, Jay Neubacher. It's got the bourbon smoked spices, sauteed mushrooms and onions, and a special sauce that is to die for!
